Jack fruit Pulao has its own unique taste. Traditionally Indian spices fried with curd have an awesome taste.
So we will prepare Kathal Biryani/ Jack fruit Pulao for dinner.

- Ingredients for Raw Jack fruit Pulao
- Basmati rice - 200 grams (1 cup)
- Jackfruit(unripe) - 200 grams
- Ghee - 3 tbsp
- Cashew nut - 7 to 8 ( cut 1 nut into 7-8 pieces)
- Jeera(cumin seeds) - 1/2 tsp
- Clove - 5 to 6
- Black pepper - 8 to 10
- Elaichi(cardamom) - 2
- Cinnamon - 1 to 2 pieces
- Turmeric powder - less than 1/4
- Green chilli - 1 (finely chopped)
- Ginger - 1 inch long piece (grate or make paste)
- Curd - 2 tbsp
- Red chilli powder - 1/4 tsp (if you want)
- Salt - add to taste( 1 tsp)
- Green coriander - 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
- How to make Raw Jackfruit Pulao
Clean the rice, wash it then soak in water for 1/2 an hour.
Wash jack fruit, apply oil on hands, cut jack fruit into 1 inch long pieces. Remove the skin from the seeds of the jack fruit.
Grind clove, black pepper, Elaichi and cinnamon making a coarse powder.
In the cooker:
Pour Ghee and heat. Put in the jack fruit pieces in hot Ghee and stir. Fry till the pieces turn light brown then put them on a plate. Now put the pieces of cashew nuts in the Ghee and fry till they turn light brown then keep on a plate. In the remaining Ghee add Jeera, after Jeera is fried add turmeric powder, powder of clove, black pepper. Also add green chilli, ginger paste and curd. Stir fry these spices for 2-3 minutes.
Put rice in these spices and stir fry for 2 minutes. Add fried jack fruit and cashew nuts then mix. Add fried jack fruit and cashew nuts then mix. Pour 2 times more water than the amount of rice. Now add salt and red chilli powder then close the lid of the cooker. Cook Pulao till 1 whistle goes off. Turn off the gas, release some pressure from the cooker by lifting its whistle.
Once the entire pressure escapes from the cooker, open its lid. Kathal Biryani/Jack fruit Pulao is ready. Take it out in a bowl and garnish with chopped coriander.
In the microwave:
Put Ghee in a pan and heat. Put in the jack fruit pieces in hot Ghee and stir. Fry till the pieces turn light brown then put them on a plate. Now put the pieces of cashew nuts in the Ghee and fry till they turn light brown then keep on a plate. In the remaining Ghee add Jeera, after Jeera is fried add turmeric powder, powder of clove, black pepper. Also add green chilli, ginger paste and curd. Stir fry these spices for 2-3 minutes. Put rice in these spices and stir fry for 2 minutes. Now add fried jack fruit and cashew nuts then mix.
In the bowl used to cook in the microwave put this mix, pour 2 times more water than the amount of rice. Now add salt and close the bowl's lid. Place the bowl in the microwave. Set the microwave for 12 minutes.
Kathal Biryani /Jack fruit Pulao is ready, garnish Pulao with chopped coriander. Serve hot Jack fruit Pualo and eat.
