Barley Porridge Recipe for weight loss

Barley porridge is very tasty to eat, it can also be called barley pulao.  Often on the path of weight loss, there is a desire to eat something spicy.  At such times, you can make and eat this barley porridge/pulao.  It is spicy to eat and is also very beneficial for health.  Along with weight, it also helps in increasing immunity.  So you make this nutritious barley porridge/pulao and enjoy its taste.

 

Ingredients for Jau Dalia/Pulao

 

Barley Broken Wheat - ½ cup (90 grams)

Desi Ghee - 1 tbsp

Cumin Seeds - ½ tsp

Peas - ½ cup

Carrot - ¼ cup, chopped

Cauliflower - ¼ cup, finely chopped

Capsicum - ¼ cup, finely chopped

Ginger - 1 tsp, grated

Green Chilli - 1, finely chopped

Tomato - 1, chopped

Salt - ½ tsp

 

Process of making Barley Dalia/Pulao

 

Roast barley porridge in a pan, stirring continuously, on medium flame till it changes color slightly.  After roasting, take it out in a bowl.  Now put 1 tbsp of ghee in the cooker and heat it.  Put ½ tsp of cumin in hot ghee and fry it lightly.  Then add ½ cup of green peas, ¼ cup of finely chopped carrots, ¼ cup of finely chopped cauliflower, ¼ cup of finely chopped capsicum, 1 tsp of grated ginger and 1 finely chopped green chili.

 

Fry them lightly on medium flame, then add roasted barley porridge and fry for half a minute, mixing it well.  After frying, cut 1 tomato into small pieces by removing its seeds, add it and mix it well.  Mix it by adding 1.5 cups of water and ½ tsp of salt, then close the cooker and cook on high flame till one whistle.  Turn off the gas after a whistle and let the pressure of the cooker come out.

 

When the pressure is released, open the cooker and stir the porridge a little with a light hand, then cover it halfway and keep it for 10 minutes.  When the time is up, barley porridge/pulao will be ready.  Serve it and enjoy its taste.

 

Suggestions

 

You can roast 2-3 cups of barley porridge together and keep it in a container, when you feel like making it with the method given above.

While making porridge, measure and pour three times the water from the porridge.
