Dum Aloo with Dhaniya Gravy


You people might have eaten many simple dum aloo dishes, but this dish made with coriander gravy tastes extremely different and looks appetizing in every manner. Also, it is very easy to make and cooks in no time. Due to coriander leaves and the use of fewer spices, it becomes more beneficial for health.


Potato (boiled) - 10 (400 grams)

Green Coriander - 100 grams

Chilli - 3

Ginger - 1/2 inch

Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp

Dry Fenugreek - 1 tsp

Black pepper - 4

Cardamom  - 1

Cloves - 2

Lemon - 1

Oil - 3 to 4 tbsp

Salt - 3/4 tsp


How to make Dum Aloo with Dhaniya Gravy

To make Dum Aloo with Dhaniya Gravy, take 10 boiled Potatoes and peel them. Now add 3 tablespoons of oil in a pan and add peeled potatoes to it, fry the potatoes from all sides till turn golden brown at medium flame.

Meanwhile, potatoes roast, prepare the coriander gravy. Separate out 100 grams of fresh and green coriander leaves from the stalk and wash them thoroughly. Now chop the leaves roughly. Also, chop 3-4 chilies and ½ inch ginger baton. Grind all the chopped ingredients and form them into a fine paste.

Dum Aloo with Dhaniya gravy

Now take out the fried potatoes and remove the excess oil from the pan and leave only 1 tablespoon of oil in the pan. Turn the flame low and add  ½ tsp of cumin seeds and some whole spices like 4 black peppers, 2 cloves, and 1 peeled black cardamom. These spices will add more flavor to the dish. Now add 1 tsp of crushed dry fenugreek. Roast them a little.

Pour the coriander paste to the roasted spices and add ¾ tsp of salt (or to taste). Stir it a little and add the fried potatoes to it. Mix them and let them cook for 4-5 minutes in the gravy. At last, add 1 lemon extract or 1 tsp of dry mango powder. Mix all the things nicely and after 1-2 minutes our dish is ready to take it out on a plate.

Garnish the dish with some ginger juliennes. You can have the Dum Aloo with Dhaniya Gravy with naan, chapati or paratha and its scrumptious flavor.
