Ingredients for Sooji ka Halwa
- Sooji - 100 gms. (1/2 cup)
- Desi Ghee - 50 gms (1/4 cup)
- Sugar - 125 gms (little more than a 1/2 cup)
- Cashews - 10-15
- Raisins - 10-15
- Cardamom - 5
- Almonds - 3 or 4 (optional)
- Grated Coconut - 2 table spoon
- Water - 400 gms. (2 cup)
Method - How to make Sooji ka Halwa
Take a pan and heat ghee into it. Put sooji into the pan and roast it with the help of a ladle. After 5 minutes you will see sooji turning light pink in colour. Stir the sooji continuously until it turns brown. The brown colour of sooji determines that it is well roasted.
Now add water and sugar into the pan and cook it on a medium flame. Cut the cashews into 5-6 pieces each. Break the stems from the raisins and wash them. Add the cashews and raisins into the halwa after one boil. Mix them well and stir at short intervals. Turn off the flame after a while and sprinkle some beaten cardamom on it.
Take out Sooji Halwa in a serving dish and garnish it with chopped almonds and grated dried coconut. Serve it hot and fresh to your family members.
