Ingredients for Rice Pakoda

  • Cooked Rice - 2 cup.
  • Salt - 1/2 tea spoon (or according to the taste)
  • Green chilli - 2 (chopped)
  • Ginger - 1/2 inch long piece (grated)
  • Amchoor powder - 1/4 tea spoon.
  • Red Chilli powder - 1/4 tea spoon.
  • Coriander leaves - 1 table spoon (chopped)
  • Gram flour - 1 cup.
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 tea spoon.
  • Oil - to fry the pakodas.

Method - How to make Rice Pakoda

Mix salt, green chilli, ginger, amchoor powder, red chilli powder and coriander leaves into pre-cooked rice. Take out a small portion from the mixture equal to the size of 1 lemon. Press it with both hands and flatten it. Give it a round or an oval shape as per your desire. Make as many such balls from the mixture and keep them on a plate.

Sieve the gram flour and put salt, red chilli powder, coriander powder into it. Make a batter of the mixture by adding water into it. Whisk the mixture with a spoon for 5-7 minutes.

Heat oil in a pan. Take one rice ball and dip it into the batter. Put the pakoda into the pan and fry it till it turns brown in colour. Likewise, make 4-5 pakodas and fry them at one time. Take out the fried pakodas on the plate over a napkin. Prepare all the other pakodas in the same way.

Serve the hot crispy Rice Pakodas with coriander chutney, chilly sauce and tomato ketchup.

Alternative way to make Rice Magoda - Rice Pakoda.

Sieve the gram flour in a bowl. Take 1/2 cup gram flour and add salt, red chilli powder and coriander powder to it. Add water in the mixture and make a thick batter. Whisk the batter for 5 minutes with spoon. Put cooked rice, chopped green chilli and grated ginger in the mixture. Mixture to make Pakoda is ready.

Heat oil in a pan, take a small portion of the mixture and put it into the pan. Put as many pakodas as you can in a pan at one time so each them get totally dipped into the oil. Keep on turning and flipping the pakodas till they turn brown. Take out the fried pakodas on a plate over a paper napkin. Make more pakodas from the mixture in the same way.

Your hot and cripsy Rice Pakodas are ready. Serve them with coriander chutney, chilly sauce, mint chutney and tomato ketchup.
