Single Pot Meal Leftover Rice Gravy Muthiya Recipe

Today we are going to make Rasiya Muthia from leftover rice.  This is a traditional recipe of Gujarat and is absolutely wonderful in taste.  It gets ready in very less time and it is a complete meal.  The method of making it is very easy.  So you too make Rasiya Muthia with this easy recipe and enjoy its taste with your family.


Ingredients for Gujarati Rasili Muthia


Rice - 1 cup, cooked

Gram Flour - ½ cup

Ginger-Green Chilli Paste - 1 tsp

Salt - Salt - more than ½ tsp

Asafoetida - ½ pinch

Turmeric Powder - ½ tsp

Coriander Powder - 1 tsp

Red Chilli Powder - ½ tsp

Dry Mango Powder - ½ tsp

Coriander Leaves - 1-2 tbsp

Oil - 1 tsp


For Gravy


Buttermilk - 1 cup

Turmeric Powder - ¼ tsp

Red Chilli - ¼ tsp

Coriander Powder - ½ tsp

Oil - 1 tbsp

Cumin Seeds - ¼ tsp

Ginger-Green Chilli Paste - 1 tsp

Dry Red Chilli - 2

Asafoetida - ½ pinch

Salt - ½ tsp

Kashmiri Red Chilli - ¼ tsp


For Tadka


Oil - ½ tbsp

Cumin Seeds - ¼ tsp

Curry Leaves - 8-10

Kashmiri Red Chilli - ¼ tsp


Process of making the Dough


In a bowl take 1 cup of cooked rice, ½ cup of gram flour, 1 tsp of ginger-green chilli paste, ½ tsp of salt, ½ pinch of asafoetida, ½ tsp of turmeric powder, 1 tsp of coriander powder, ½ tsp of red chilli powder, ½ tsp of dry mango powder and 1-2 tbsp of finely chopped coriander leaves.


Mix them well, add 1 tsp of oil to it and knead it by mashing it well.  If it is too dry then add water or if it is too wet then you can also add some gram flour.  In this way dough will be ready after mashing.


Process of assembling Muthiya


After kneading the dough, apply some oil on the hand and break a little dough and make it round.  Make it like a ball and keep it on a plate.  Similarly, make small balls from all the dough, but remember that a little dough has to be saved.


Process of making Rasiya Muthiya Recipe


Put 1 cup of buttermilk, 2.5 cup of water, ¼ tsp of turmeric, ¼ tsp of red chilli powder and ½ tsp of coriander powder in the remaining dough bowl.  Mix them well, remember that the dough has to be mixed well.  Then heat the pan and put 1 tbsp of oil in it and heat it.


Put ¼ tsp of cumin in hot oil and fry it lightly.  Then add 1 tsp of ginger-green chilli paste and fry it lightly.  Now add 2 whole red chilies and ½ pinch of asafoetida and stir lightly.  Now reduce the flame to low and pour the solution in it and cook it while stirring continuously till the flame comes to a boil.


When it comes to a boil, put the balls one by one in it.  Stir them lightly and add ½ tsp of salt and ¼ tsp of kashmiri red chilli.  Mix them and cook for 12-15 minutes while stirring occasionally.  When the time is up, add some green coriander and mix it and turn off the flame.  Then take them out in a bowl.


Process of making Tadka


Put ½ tsp of oil in a tadka pan and heat it.  Put ¼ tsp of cumin and 8-10 curry leaves in hot oil and turn off the flame.  Then add ¼ tsp of kashmiri red chilli and mix it and put it on the Rasiya Muthia.  In this way, Rasiya Muthia will be ready, serve them and enjoy their taste.




Balls have to be added one by one only after the gravy comes to a boil, otherwise the balls will break and dissolve in the gravy itself.
