Moon Dal ka Halwa

मूंगदाल का हलवा (Moong Dal ka Halwa) एक लोकप्रिय उत्तर भारतीय मिठाई है. इसे अधिकतर सर्दियों में बनाया जाता है. सर्दियों के शाम खाने के बाद गरमागर्म मूंग दाल के हलवे का मज़ा एक दम अलग होता है. आईये आज मूंग दाल का हलवा (Moong Daal ka Halva) बनायें.

आवश्यक सामग्री - Ingredients for Moong ka Hawla

  • मूंग की धुली दाल - 100 ग्राम (आधा कप )
  • घी - 100 ग्राम (आधा कप)
  • मावा -  50 - 100 ग्राम ( 1/4 - 1/2 कप)
  • चीनी - 150 ग्राम (3/4 कप)
  • काजू - 20 (एक काजू को 4 टुकड़ों में काट लें)
  • किशमिश - 20
  • इलाइची - 4 (छील कर पीस लें)
  • बादाम - 5 (लम्बाई में बारीक काट लें)

विधि - How to Make Moong ka Halwa

मूंग की दाल को धो कर 2-3 घंटे के लिये पानी में भिगो दीजिये.

दाल को धो कर पानी से निकाल लें और बिना पानी डाले, मिक्सी से पीस लें. दाल को एकदम बारीक न करें.
कढ़ाई गैस पर रख कर गरम करें. कढ़ाई में घी डाल कर हल्का गरम कर लीजिये और दाल डाल दीजिये. कलछी से चला चला कर दाल को मिडियम आग पर भूनें. करीब 20 या 25 मिनिट में दाल अच्छी तरह भुन जायेगी ( भूनी हुई दाल कढ़ाई से नहीं चिपकती और घी अलग होता दिखता है ) दाल भुन कर तैयार है. दाल को किसी प्याले में निकाल कर रख लीजिये.

कढ़ाई में मावा डाल कर धीमी आग पर भून लीजिये और दाल में मिला दीजिये.

किसी बर्तन में चीनी और चीनी की मात्रा के बराबर पानी मिला कर गैस पर रखें. पानी में उबाल आने के बाद 2 मिनिट तक पकायें और चाशनी तैयार कर लीजिये.

दाल में यह चाशनी मिलायें, काजू और किसमिस भी मिला दें. अब धीमी गैस पर हलवे को चला चला कर भूनें 5-7 मिनिट में हलबा बन कर तैयार हो जाता है. गैस बन्द कर दीजिये. हलवे में पिसी हुई इलाइची डाल कर मिला दीजिये. आपका मूंग की दाल का हलवा तैयार है.

मूंग की दाल के हलवा को प्याले में निकाल लीजिये और ऊपर से कतरे बादाम डाल कर सजाइये.  गरमा गरम  मूंग दाल हलवा परोसिये और खाइये. ठंडा होने के बाद मूंग के दाल के हलवा को फ्रिज में रख लीजिये और 7 दिन तक मूंग दाल का हलवा फ्रिज से निकालिये और खाइये.

    पहली बार आपके यहाँ आयी हूँ -आकर्षण यही था , मूँग दाल का हलवा -बनाने के उपाय मन में आते थे । अच्छा हुआ आज पढ लिया । ट्राई करने वाली थी पर दाल उबाल कर ।आपने और मेरे समयाभाव ने बचा लिया ।

    I tried moong dal Halwa. .but 15-20 minute me dal siki nahi and chipak rahi thi garam kadai me jab dala to guthlia pad rahi thi.meri kya mistake hui. Can u explain me?

    When i added the syrup and stirred for 5 mins it became more like a barfi not halwa. Please let me know when the dal mixture gets cooked.

    नीलम, आप मावा के बिना भी मूंग दाल का हलवा बना सकती हैं, चीनी की चाशनी बनाते समय पानी की जगह दूध का प्रयोग कीजिये, हलवा अच्छा बनेगा.

      Cheeni ki chashni banate samay doodh ka upyog na karein. Mene aisa karke dekha tha par doodh fat gaya or chashni kharaab ho gayi. Isse behtar hai ki chashni paani me banaye or baad me chashni or doodh alag- alag bhuni hui daal me dalen.

    i did not try yet but will soon.In canada some one told me after dal is made in blender leave it outside for 2 hours then mix well and fry small balls in oil as we make pakori then drain and blend in blender not so puree type but coarse then put less ghee or olive oil and cook it very low heat this way less butter nad less fat and calaroies.

    रेनू, इस रैसिपी में 100 ग्राम दाल का हलवा ही बनाया है, चीनी - 150ग्राम , पानी - 150 ग्राम, चीनी के बराबर पानी ले लीजिये.

    i tried this recipyn but it came out as a disaster.i m not very gud at cooking but dis was not something i had expected.dal ekdum kadi ho gayi thi.usme guthaliya bhi thi,aur halwa kachcha bhi lag raha tha.i did everything i could do to save it.where was i wrong??

    प्राची, मूंग की दाल भूनते समय हमेशा कलछी से चलाते हुये भूनना है,यदि आप दाल को अच्छी तरह चलाते हुये नहीं भूनेगी, तब दाल में गुठलियां पड़ सकती है. बार बार कोशिश करते रहने से आपकी हर समस्या दूर हो जायेगी, और आप अच्छी कुक भी बन जायेगी.

    hi Expert,
    today i made halwa as per ur recipe(didnt use mawa). i have some Question-
    As soon as i added dhuli moong dal paste (which i coarsely grinded) in nonstik pan;the paste absorbed all the ghee and started forming big lumps which i find very difficult 2 break but somehow i break it into small bits. and i continue frying for 15-25mins(the paste was lumpy a bit not free flowing like sooji). the paste was not soft or smooth rather not even sticky just lumpy but i manage to bhoonofy. then i added sugar syrup then the paste got soft but there were still lumps small small not big ones. it tasted good but there is no DROPPING CONSISTENCY in halwa as sooji halwa is . CAn u help me and explain how the texture should be and did i made it in a right way. thax in advance.
    निशा: फराह, आपको दाल को भूनते समय दाल की बराबर मात्रा का घी डालना है,अगर फिर भी दाल को भूनते समय गुठलियां पड़े तब उसमें थोड़ा घी और डालकर जल्दी जल्दी दाल को चमचे से चलाते हुये भुनिये, दाल अच्छी भुननी ही चाहिये और हलवा मैं गाड़ा ही रखती हूं. अगर आप उसे पतला बनाना चाहती तो चाशनी बनाते समय पानी अपने हिसाब से जितना आप हलवे की कन्सिसटैन्सी रखना चाहती है पानी मिला लीजिये.

    hi expert! i made again with green moong dal(as i forgot which dal i used last time but later soon i realized). i faced lot of difficulty in removing the husk inspite of soaking the dal for 10-12 hrs even i couldnt able to remove the husk fully. but still with some husk in dal i made halwa. wt i did this time was i grinded the dal finely(not corsely) and added little water too to help the grinding process. and made halwa this time i didnt face lump problem rather it was like sooji halwa. i mean good consistency. But wt my husband and even i realized is when we make halwa with dhuli moong dal and grind coarsely it taste far better and more like moong halwa than making with chelka wali moong dal because this green dal taste a bit diff. than dhuli mooong dal. i dont know why????do u know the reasons ....advise if possible...i have also seen a video (pakistnai) where this chef prepared moong halwa with moong atta??? i wonder how it will taste...??? What do u think...if u hav any tips on these plz share thax once again....Good luck

    nisha ji maine kal halwa banaya tha but wo thik nahi bana. apne bataya dal 20-25 minute tak bunni hai lekin itni der me to wo jal gayi thi or use bubbles(ghuthliya) bhi pad gayi thi. aap please mujhe btaye ki meri kahan galti hui hai. nisha ji jab hum dal ko kadai me dalte hai to usme khud hi ghuthliya pad jati hai.

    Hi, would like to suggest a tip for the first time Moong Dal Halwa makers. After grinding the moong dal in a mixer, mix the ghee and moong dal paste in the wok before heating it. Mix it well so that moong dal absorbs all the ghee. After this you can start cooking it on medium heat. In this way, it won't form lumps and won't stick to the wok. Also, you will be able cook it properly.

    Hi Niisha ji, I really like your website specially because all our recipes are without onion an garlic. I have tried a lot of your recipes and all of them have turned out to be excellent. I love moong dal ka halwa and so I tried making it according to your recipe. Since mawa is not available in U.S. , I used milk instead of water with sugar in the same proportion. My final halwa did not turn out to be as soft as it is supposed to be. Infact it does not have a soft consistency and is slightly granualted ( there are no lumps)

    I also tried to make the Moong ki dal ka halwa , but , when , i put dal in Gee , after grindin it , it become very hard .

    I would like to know , do we need to use Desi Gee or refine gee , and secondly , gee and dal , we put together in kadai or first heat the gee and then put the dal into it !

    hello nisha ji, apke mong k halwa ki recipe padkar mainy try ki test achcha baith tha but mera halwa white hi raha aisa kyu jabki mainy usey 60 min. tak seka or ek problem hui ki jaisey hi mainy ghee main dal sikney k liye dali wo ek dale k rupe me ho gayi or muje chalane me kafi dikkat hui fir 30 min baad daal apney aap bikhrany lagi but halwa white hi raha aisa kyu hua plz muje bataiye...

    nishaji, meine halwa banaya to iska colour utna dark nahi aaya jitna aana chahiye ( dark brown)..maine daal ko bhuna bhi usi stage tak tha jaisa aapne bataya hai ki wo chipke nahi aur ghee chodne lage....next thing is.. jab halwa ban kar tyaar hua to usme halki si jalne ki mahak thi..maine jaldi se usme khub saara elaichi pwd daal aur thoda sa kewra essence bhi...aur wo mahak khatam ho gayi...maine diwali par guests ko halwa serve kia to sabne taarif ki...

    is method se achha haluva banya ja sakta hai yidi mava na dale or milk ka use kre to bhi haluva itna hi testy banega

    Hello Nisha , I made this halva yesterday evening and it turned out delicious . Thanx for d recipe . I ve been reading comments and majority of people had problem in roasting dal , here I want to tell my experience :- add ghee as per d instructions (sm recipes can not have shortcut in terms of ghee , butter etc so it is one of those :) ) and after 7,8 minutes of continuous stirring , scraping the dal from kadhai , it will be much easier to stir fry . Keep a check on flame , initially it is on high flame than may b after 7,8 min on medium flame . also depending on the temperature at ur place . once dal resembles fresh bread crumbs texture , continue with stirring till it looks slightly golden . My halva took exactly 2o min to reach that stage . add sugar syrup as instructed . This is a rich dish bt hey we r Indians what with little extra ghee , lets forgo paranthas this week :) cheers !

    I also tried this receipe, but halwe me dal ka taste kam or Khoya ka jayada tha, and look was also not that shown in your video.

    Will it affect if i grind the Dal and start making halwa not immediatly. let's say after 3-4 hrs.
    please advise what needs to be corrected.

    Nisha Didi Mung daal ka halwa mene banaya tha.. lekin mane mava ke pede alag bartan me garm kar liye (ye meri bhul thi) aur chashni 1 taar se jyada dadhi ho gai....kya isiliye mera halva achha nahi bana hoga ??? aur ha jab me daal ghee me sek rahi thi tab daal dikhne me to achhi lag rahi thi lekin soft ho jati he vesi nahi rahi.. (jaise ham oil me daal talte he vesi ho gai)iska kya karan ho sakta he ???
    mere saval ke javab aap jaldi dena.... aap ans. degi tabhi me jaldi se dusri baar try kar paungi... me ise jaldi se sikhna chahti hu.. plz. nisha didi help me..

    Nisha - thanks for the recipe. I tried this for the first time and it came out really good. It looks and tastes ok, but the only the problem is I am getting moong dal taste/smell. Did I not "bhuno" it enough and how can I fix it?

    i m a big fan of ur cookin skills. could u plz tell me the recipe to make moong dal ke laddu. actually different people have different ideas. kuchh kehte hain ki dal ki bhigo ke fir grind karo n then bhoono. kuchh kehte hain ki dal ko aise hi dho ke bhoon lo n fir grind kar ke laddu bana lo . plz guide me.

    Hi Nisha,
    I created my a/c in this website today.I learned Moong Dal ka Halwa from this side via video and i tried to make for my family but after eating this halwa i found it hard to chwing. I put dal in gringer and i was baking it for 20 min. please tell me how can i make soft Halwa not like this one..otherwise teste and sugar was absolutly correct..

    निशा: पंकज, दाल को ज्यादा भूना गया हो और चाशनी में पानी कम हो तो हलवा सख्त हो जायेगा, तेज आग पर चाशनी का पानी जल्दी ही जल जाता है, अगली बार के लिये आप चाशनी में पानी की मात्रा थोड़ी अधिक रख लीजिये, 1-1/2 कप तक रख लीजिये, मुंग दाल हलवा को जितना सोफ्ट रखना चाहें, रख सकेंगे, धन्यवाद.

    main kai baar try kar chuki hoon ainsa lagta hai ki main paani kam dalti hoon.

    nisha ji, thnx for suggest .agar mujhe milk bhi daalna hai halwa main to mujhe kitna dalna chahiyye agar meri dal 1 cup hai to kita cup milk or kitna cup water use karna hai??????

    nishaji,mein jab bhi moong dal ki pakodi banati hoon ,fry karne ke time phat jati hai,jor jor se phatne lagti hain,aur ek taraf sari dal aa jati hai,soft nahi banti,pls.tell me d reason.aisa hi urad dal ke saath hota hai.

    Let me complement you for your excellent website. We don't get fresh mawa in USA. Is it possible to make mawa at home (for this recipe)by using whole milk and milk powder etc.? I know that we can make mawa by boiling the milk but that is very time consuming process. Thanks.

    kya karu.
